IMP: GMC has announced that candidates taking their PLAB 2 test after October 2nd, 2018 need not go again for an ID check. GMC will verify your ID(by means of your passport) when you go for your PLAB 2 exam. This is good news for IMGs qs it saves money for a 2nd trip. (However, in case of any doubts or discrepancies, GMC reserves the right to call any doctor again for an ID check)
Once GMC verifies your documents, you will receive an email inviting you for ID check. It will also contain the list of documents that you need to carry with you for the check. You can book the ID check date from your account.
Dates are available throughout the month at their London and Manchester offices. You can book an appointment at either of the places.
Note: ID check date can be booked as soon as you pass PLAB 2. However, there is a chance that GMC might cancel your appointment if you book a date before your documents are verified. So it is up to you to decide when to book the date. I booked it immediately after passing PLAB 2 and GMC did not cancel it for me. Read about my ID check experience here.
