Applying for Tier 2 Visa

Tier 2 visa is a work visa. Applying for Tier 2 Visa is easier than a Visit Visa because you need not prove any ties back home.

You will  need the following documents:

Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS):

  • This is a document issued by the UK home office at the request of your employer.
  • Your hospital HR will apply for this document once you accept a job offer.
  • It contains your personal details as well as details about your job and salary.
  • Maintenance: You will get your first salary a month after you start working. Therefore, you need some money to sustain yourself in the first month. Most of the trusts agree to take care of this, and tick 'Yes' for maintenance in your CoS. If they do so, you will not need to show your bank statement or prove that you have sufficient funds with you during your visa application.

Police clearance certificate(PCC):

  • You will need a PCC from all the countries you have lived for 12(continuous or in total) or more months in the last 10 years, while aged 18 or above.
  • This certificate is valid for a period of 6 months.
  • In India, you can apply for a PPC from your local passport office. Apply, pay and book an appointment for it from the same website which you used while applying for your passport. All you need is just your passport.(and your address proof if the address on your passport is different from your current address). Read more about the process here.

UKVI IELTS:

  • You can use the same IELTS certificate that you used for your GMC registration, provided it is UKVI and taken within the last 2 years.

TB Clearance certificate:

  • This certificate is valid for 6 months.
  • This certificate must be issued by a UKVI authorised clinic.
  • The list of such clinics can be found here.

  • This is only needed if your trust has not ticked maintenance on your CoS or is not an A rated sponsor.
