Preparing for PLAB 1

PLAB 1 is an easy exam, especially for someone who has just completed their final year of MBBS. You can crack the exam in 2-4 weeks of preparation.

If you are still in your final year, remember that Harrison is your best friend. Please do not start preparing for PLAB 1 and wasting your time now.

Resources that I used for preparing:

  1. 1700 questions by Dr Khalid. These questions are GOLD. Dr Khalid routinely keeps on updating them, so please make sure that you get your hands on the latest document.
  2. Make a note of the important topics from the above set of questions and read those topics thoroughly from Oxford Handbook of Clinical Medicine.
  3. Websites: gpnotebook, patient.info, uptodate, nice.org: Use them to cross check and read the latest guidelines.
  4. Online qbanks: I really wouldn't recommend them for PLAB 1. Use them only if it has been years since you have graduated and you have forgotten the basic concepts of medicine.
Try and understand the concepts and learn the latest guidelines. Do not try to mug up the 1700 questions.
